The roots of Cleveland High School can be traced back to the City of Seattle’s early days of progress and development. In 2007, Cleveland’s 650+ students returned to a 21st Century-focused, revamped campus in the Beacon Hill community. Cleveland families are attracted to the school’s focus on creating a supportive, challenging, healthy learning environment that prepares all students for college and productive lives after high school. Cleveland High School consists of two theme-based small learning communities, or Academies, into which all Cleveland students enter for the duration of their Cleveland High School experience. Overall, Cleveland has increased the number of Honors and AP classes in2009-10; including Physics, Biology, Statistics, and Calculus. Cleveland faculty and students enjoy a multitude of supporting programs, including: MESA, GEAR UP, College Success Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Achiever’s program, the NWABR BioExpo, HERO Program, Girls First Program, Project Lead the Way and Upward Bound.
Cleveland High School is the smallest regular high school in the Seattle School District—and its most diverse. Through its engaged faculty and enriched curriculum Cleveland offers a rich, multicultural perspective that honors and validates important and emerging voices.
